Matchbook Illustrations

I somehow ended up with several boxes of blank matches. So what was a girl to do with them? Draw on them, of course! 

I do a lot of art shows where I am sitting at bars or in a tent, just sitting. I find spending that time drawing on little matchbooks to be fun and engaging with the people around me. They love getting a little book with their protrait on it. 

I’ve been able to play around with different imagery small scale before attempting it large this way too. I think my favorite part of it is the portraiture, though. Little spontaneous portraits that the subject then gets to take home with them.
