This page was inspired by a photographer I found on tumblr, Angélica Dass. She matches the skin tones of her subjects with a corresponding Pantone color. I started to draw her portraits as an exercise in another sketchbook and on loose sheets of paper. I wanted to expand my practice beyond John Jack. Don’t get me wrong, he’s a fantastic subject, cheesy mustache and all.
These practice portraits where combined with a cut up photograph of a crowd and some miscellaneous older portraits. When I look at it, especially right now, it makes me think of diversity. I would hope everyone would find diversity a beautiful thing.
